“The magic world of Baikal” show closed in Cave show gallery next to the Cousteau Oceanographic Museum in Monaco. Unique photos at the museum’s stands showed the most exciting moments of the three-year scientific and research expedition “Miry in the Lake Baikal” organized by the Fund for Protection of the Lake Baikal.
The photo show has become a part of a presentation of the scientific results of a scale project in the Oceanographic Museum found 100 years ago by Prince of Monaco Albert I – the “Miry on Baikal” international scientific research expedition (2008-2010). The Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal established by METROPOL Group of Companies in 2008-2010 has organized a unique international scientific and research expedition named Miry on the Baikal Lake and a range of international scientific and public events. The program of the expedition with use of MIR submersibles has been prepared by scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The government of the Republic of Buryatia, Administrations of the Irkutsk Region and the Zabaikalye Territory, leading specialists of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Limnological Institute of the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences took part in the preparation and holding of the expedition. Representatives of the Prince Albert II Foundation, the Japanese Association for Baikal International Research Program (JABIRP), Ghent University (Belgium), the Queen’s English Society, other authoritative international scientific and environmental organizations and experts took part in the expedition.
On June 15-16, 201,1 the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal supported by the Prince Albert II Foundation held a solemn presentation of the expedition project MIRY ON BAIKAL in Oceanographic Museum, Monte Carlo.
The leading Russian scientists and their colleagues from the most authoritative international scientific and environmental organizations told the visitors about the most important discoveries of the expedition deserving the attention of the world public.
