The weather conditions on Baikal have normalized, and the scientists were able to continue the scheduled flights for the Selenga delta using the new Swiss equipment.
Together with the Russian, French and Swiss scientists Professor Jeffrey Nittrouer from the Department of Earth Sciences at Rice University (Houston, USA) participated in the study. He has also performed co-chair of the International Scientific-Practical Conference “Delta: genesis, dynamics, modeling and sustainable development”, which took place with the support of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal in Istomino from 21 to 25 July.
Professor Jeffrey Nittrouer, specialist in geomorphology and river deltas, told the young scientists about the history of the Selenga delta. During the expedition the areas of the Selenga delta, which, according to experts, by age are similar to portions of the Mississippi Delta, were investigated.
The American delegation looks forward to further cooperation in the framework of the International scientific expedition “Trans-Eurasian flight: Leman-Baikal”.
