The Chairman of the Buryat Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, the member of the Scientific Council of FPLB, director of the Baikal Institute of Nature Management SB RAS, Arnold Tulokhonov received Mongolia's highest award, the Order of the “Pole Star”. The award ceremony took place on October 5 in Ulaanbaatar during the joint meeting of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia and the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences.
While presenting this high award, the merits of Arnold Tulokhonov and his institution in the three-year expedition “Mir Subs on Baikal” were highlighted. This high award opens up new opportunities for scientific, social, and economic cooperation between Buryatia and Mongolia. To date, there is a preparation of a new series of scientific expeditions to Mongolia, joint research programs and projects are being discussed.
