On 3 December within the framework of the round table “Russian Geographical Society and Environment” M. Slipenchuk made a speech at the IV All-Russian Congress of Environment Protection with the report “Expedition “Mirs at Lake Baikal”. Importance and results”. He, in particular, spoke about the results of the researches of the unique expeditionary project dedicated to the study of the ecosystem of Lake Baikal by the manned submersibles “Mir” in 2008-2010, and acquainted the participants with the preliminary results of a new expedition “Trans-Eurasia flight: Lehman – Baikal”.

the topical issues related to federal legislation on Lake Baikal
and amendments to the draft of the Federal Law No. 175151-6
“On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian
Federation on the Baikal natural territory”, which are now being
considered in the State Duma. The first Vice president of the RGS ,
the dean of the Faculty of Geography of the Lomonossov Moscow State
University, Academician N.Kasimov became a moderator of the round
table “Russian Geographical Society and
Environment”.
