The scientists are continuing their underwater activities on the eastern bank of Baikal, near Turka. Weather conditions over Lake Baikal are favorable for submersion of both Mir-1 and Mir-2 vessels. The crews of the submersibles together with the scientists from the Siberian branch of the Institute of Limnology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences carry out geological research works, collect biological samples, study underwater hydrothermal developments.
