On September 5th, Mir-1 and Mir-2 submersibles were delivered to the exhibition area next to SibExpoCenter build in Irkutsk. It is here that the official closing of the “Mirs in Baikal” expedition will take place during the VI Baikal Economic Forum.

Thereby, Bair Tsyrenov, Director of the Foundation for Protection of Lake Baikal, announced, “The Mir submersibles will stay at the SibExpoCenter till September 10th. At first, the exhibition will only be open to the participants of the Baikal Economic Forum, but on September 9th free access to the public will be provided. I think the people of Irkutsk will be curious to take a look at the Mirs, besides; we will put up stands with information on the vessels. Maybe some of the crew members will be willing to answer visitors’ questions.”
