Mikhail Kozhukhov, a renowned host of V Poiskakh Priklyucheniy (In Search for Adventures) television show, completed filming a show about the Republic of Buryatia. Mr Kozhukhov delivered this news at a press conference with participation of Mr Bair Dashievich Tsyrenov, Vice-President of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal. The idea to make a show about Buryatia was in fact suggested by Mr Mikhail Slipenchuk, Head of the FPLB Guardianship Board: “Unfortunately Russians from television shows learn more about Africa than about Russian regions. At a presentation of a film about Lake Baikal in Mongolia, I suggested that Mikhail Kozhukhov should make a documentary about Buryatia”.
For several days, Mikhail collected material for the television shows at different locations in exciting and mysterious Buryatia: stone garden in Yeravn, Ekhor night, blacksmith ritual in the Barguzin valley, visiting hambo-lama Itigelov, etc.
“This is truly beyond my concept of the world. I think not everyone in Russia knows that. I can hope, for instance, that many people will see Father Sergey of Semeyskys. He is an outstanding person. I’m proud of showing such people”, said Mikhail Kozhukhov.
The production took only several days with the help of a helicopter provided by Mikhail Slipenchuk. “When I met Mikhail, it came to me as a surprise that such shows were not filmed about Russia. This is not right. I suggested that we would finance the entire project to let our people know more of their country and people that live close to them”, - Mr Slipenchuk said.
The show by Mikhail Kozhukov about Buryatia is expected to be released in September 2011.
