On 13 September the presentation of scientific and educational project “Planet Baikal” took place in Ulan-Ude.
The presentation took place within the framework of the cultural program of the International Economic Conference “New Economy – New Approaches” of the 7th Baikal Economic Forum. The organizers of the event are the Corporation “Roskosmos” and the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal with the support of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia and the Group “METROPOL”.
Vice-President of the FPLB Bair Tsyrenov, Minister of Natural Resources of the Republic of Buryatia Bair Angaev, director of the Baikal Institute of Nature Management of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science, RAS corresponding member Arnold Tulokhonov made a speech at the presentation.
The speakers – hydronauts of Baikal – shared their impressions of participation in the expedition “Mirs at Lake Baikal” and talked about the discoveries made during the dive to the bottom of the Sacred Sea.
A collection of scientific reports and a new film, which are both called “Planet Baikal”, were brought to the attention of the participants of the presentation.
The Collection “Planet Baikal” is based on scientific reports of the participants of the conference, held in April 2012 at UNESCO Headquarters (Paris).
The new film “Planet Baikal” was presented by its authors Gayane Petrosyan and Larisa Smirnova. A joint experiment of the Russian cosmonauts and the scientists of the RAS at the International expedition “Mirs at Lake Baikal” has become the main theme of the film.
