On December 20, 2011 the vote for Hundred Wonders of Baikal started on the website of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal. The purpose of this vote is to popularise the nature and history of the Baikal Region and to attract the attention of wide public to issues related to the preservation of this unique lake.
The vote will be held in five separate nominations:

Natural sites – starting December 20, 2011
• Sacred places – starting February 1, 2012
• Spiritual and historical memorials – starting March 1, 2012
• Man-made relics – starting April 1, 2012
• Wildlife and endemics of Baikal – starting May 1,
2012
The vote will finish on June 1, 2012 and the winners will be announced on June 10, 2012.
Each person can give his vote to three sites in each nomination. Also, the voters can suggest alternative sites not listed on the website and leave their comments explaining their choice.
The most popular sites will be published in album Hundred Wonders of Baikal which means that every single voter participates in its creation.
Those whose choice will be the closest to the most popular votes of the Hundred Wonders of Baikal will receive gifts. The prizes include a trip voucher to Lake Baikal in summer 2012 and unique valuable gifts from the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal.
